We can use notepad or notepad++ as text editor. When using sort tabs from window->windows menu, then you can choose sorting by name, path and extension. To get a dictionary sort (a-z), use the menu option Edit -> Line operations -> Sort lines lexicographically. Trying to save in 2.79 and bring it back to 2.63 gives the “expect loss of data” warning, but I’m yet to figure out what exactly has gone wrong, if anything. Yes, there is such a function in the most recent versions. Still poking around the API documentation and trying different things to get it to work with 2.63, but still no luck.
